DEAD
RECKON

Dead reckoning is the practice of calculating your current position using only your last known location, speed, heading, and elapsed time — without external reference. No GPS. No landmark. No certainty. Just commitment to a direction and the discipline to hold it.

DEAD RECKON was born from this philosophy. We build tools for the people who move without the luxury of a clear path. Field-engineered in Cape Town at the southern tip of the continent, every product we make is designed to perform when landmarks disappear and conditions turn against you.

Questions

The Argo Multistand is a universal field platform engineered for outdoor professionals and explorers. It supports cameras, cooking equipment, optical instruments, and general field accessories across multiple terrain types — from ridge-top photography setups to backcountry cooking rigs. Any flat-ish surface. Any load up to 8kg.
The Argo ships with both 1/4"-20 UNC and 3/8"-16 UNC threaded insert points, making it compatible with the vast majority of camera, optics, and accessory mounting systems worldwide. An additional adapter kit for proprietary rail systems is available separately.
Each articulation joint uses a precision-machined positive-lock pin system. When a pin is correctly seated, you'll feel and hear a distinct click before any load is applied. There are no screws, no wing-nuts, no multi-tool required. Deployment is single-hand capable in standard field conditions.
Yes. The Argo's hard-anodised 6061 aluminium finish resists corrosion, UV exposure, salt spray, and sub-zero temperature cycling. The locking pins and pivot points are designed with drainage clearance to avoid water retention and ice binding. We test it in the conditions you'll actually face.
The Argo Multistand is currently in final pre-production. Pre-orders placed now are estimated to ship Q3 2025. We ship internationally from Cape Town, South Africa. Shipping costs and estimated delivery timelines are confirmed at checkout based on your region.
Dead reckoning is the navigational practice of calculating your position from a last known point using direction, speed, and time — without GPS, landmarks, or external verification. It demands total commitment to your heading, even without certainty. We named the brand after it because that's the spirit we design for: people who move forward with purpose, regardless of what the map says.
